Up Next: MRI and an Orthopedic Center
Now, we’re raising money for two important projects: magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment and an orthopedic specialty center.
Currently, we provide MRI services at our outpatient care centers, but not at Saratoga Hospital. That means Hospital patients who need MRI must be transported to and from our other facilities. Having an MRI at the Hospital will spare these patients the inconvenience and discomfort of transport. It also will complement the new inpatient orthopedic specialty center that we plan to open in early 2010.
The orthopedic center will be home to 20 private rooms, with "hotel-like" accommodations for patients who have joint replacement and other major orthopedic surgeries. Rooms will be designed so a family member can stay comfortably with the patient overnight. The center will be staffed by a dedicated team of orthopedic nurses. Rehabilitation services will be housed there, as well. Non-orthopedic patients will benefit, too, because the center will free up 20 beds elsewhere in the Hospital. That will go a long way in reducing overcrowding.
Why You Should Help
The total cost for these two projects is $5 million. Of that, 80% will be borne by Saratoga Hospital. Our goal is to raise the remaining $1 million from the community over the next year.
