Our Way of Saying Thank You – and Supporting Emergency Care

Our first child, Tessa, was born with a rare form of epilepsy called Dravet syndrome. Dravet is a serious neurological condition which causes prolonged seizures that are difficult to control and often life-threatening. While Tessa has had a very challenging first few years of life, we have always felt deeply blessed by her presence. We also know how fortunate we are that she has been able to receive expert medical care wherever and whenever it was needed.

We moved to Saratoga Springs in June 2005, in part, because we knew there was a high-quality hospital and emergency room close to our home. Not long afterward, we made the first of many visits to the Emergency Department at Saratoga Hospital. After our initial experience, we worked closely with Dr. Christopher Case and Dr. Timothy Brooks to develop a customized program to ensure that Tessa receives the best possible acute care. This added level of specialized care has saved Tessa's life on more than one occasion.

That's exactly the type of care that all of us want for our children. It's also the reason we've launched Cantina Kids to support Saratoga Hospital's plans for a new, larger Emergency Department – and why we're inviting you to join us.

Our Cantina Kids program offers an easy, enjoyable way for families to get involved in the Emergency Department campaign. Simply come to Cantina and have your children order from our kids menu. Cantina Kids meals cost just $3 – all of which will be donated to the new Emergency Department at Saratoga Hospital.

 Children can choose any of our "Cantina Kids" menu items. There's no extra cost to you. In fact, we are discounting the price of our kids meals to encourage as many families as possible to support the new Emergency Department.

 At Cantina we hand-make our tortillas, tamales, chips, and salsas daily. We use the freshest local ingredients to bring authentic Mexican flavors to all of our dishes. Our kids meals capture that spirit and serve up the simple flavors that kids love. Among the featured items are:

 Three-Cheese Quesadilla

Chicken or Beef Taco

Crispy Nachos

Chicken Tenders

Cheese Taquitos

 Fresh chips and salsa are complimentary for kids and parents alike.

Save the Date!
The Second Annual Cantina Kids Fun Run will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2009.  The one-mile children's run starts in front of Cantina Restaurant on Broadway in Saratoga Springs.

The Need for a New Emergency Department

 The Saratoga Hospital emergency medical team is among the most qualified and dedicated in the region. But the facility itself is no longer adequate. Right now, the Hospital treats more than 36,000 patients a year in an Emergency Department that was built to handle 18,000. And our community is still growing.

 The new $30 million Emergency Department will be nearly four times the size of the existing facility. It will have plenty of room to bring today's technology closer to the bedside and to provide much-needed comfort and privacy. More room also means shorter waiting times and a far more positive experience for patients and their family members – precisely what our community needs and deserves.
